IND vs BAN: It was just a matter of time before India wrapped up this first match at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. They had to pick the remaining six wickets to win the 1st red ball match and also take a lead of one nil in the two-match series of the Test format. But for Bangladesh, it was a tall ask to score those runs and that too when the pitch suited the spin bowlers of the Men in Blue.
In the first hour of play, Bangladesh didn’t lose any wickets. Their overnight batters, the current and former skippers, struck to their tasks of frustrating the Indian team as luck also favoured them for those moments. Bangladesh resumed their day four which was also the last day of this five-day Test match with 158 runs and they needed 357 runs to win with six wickets in their kitty.

1. Ravichandran Ashwin –
The champion bowler, Ravichandran Ashwin has always done well on his home ground in front of his family and crowd. He played an amazing innings with the bat in hand which took India out of trouble in the first innings. In the second innings with the red cherry, he also picked up six vital scalps, which helped the Men in Blue win this Test match by 280 runs.
Ash wasn’t given the ball straight away in the morning session of day four. But as soon as he got that ball in hand, he produced a wicket in his first over. Ashwin has got his 37th five wicket haul and he has also gone past tally of 519 wickets picked up by Courtley Walsh and due to his heroics Bangladesh was folded for just 234 runs when they batted for the second time in this red ball game.
2. Ravindra Jadeja –
The spin twins had bailed out India in the 1st innings with the bat in hand when the team was in huge trouble at 144 runs for the loss of six wickets on day one. But their batting heroics weren’t needed in the second innings because of Pant and Gill scored centuries. However, they were the ones who delivered this big win for India on day four. Jaddu picked up three scalps in this win for the Men in Blue in the 2nd innings.
3. Najmul Hossain Shanto –
The Bangladeshi skipper tried his best to deny an easy for the home side. He and Shakib Al Hasan had put on a partnership which did well for them in the first hour of play, till the drinks were taken. But as soon as Shakib fell to Ashwin, the other batters from Bangladesh fell like a pack of cards. Despite all that Shanto played well for his 82 runs which was the highest individual score for the visitors in both of the innings of this first red ball match.
