IND Vs NZ: Last Sunday, IND and NZ faced off in the last match of the group stage. Tomorrow, this Sunday, these two teams will meet again in Dubai. But this match is an all-important one because it is the finals of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 edition.
India was a better team when they faced New Zealand last Sunday. Even though the Men in Blue got only 249 runs on the board. But their bowlers defended that score quite superbly. Shrreyas Iyer was the top run getter in that match with the bat and Varun Chakabarthy spun a web in front of the Kiwi batters. Varun picked up a five-fer and he is only the 3rd Indian bowler to do so in the history of Champions Trophy.

However, in the finals, India will be tested in front of the New Zealand team. The batting would be in prime focus and every Indian fan would want Skipper Sharma to bat long. Rohit hasn’t converted his starts to anything substantial as of now in this 50-overs tournament.
Runs would also be expected from the King, Virat Kohli. In his last outing against the Kiwis, Virat was out because of Glenn Philips’s terrific catch. Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill need to be consistent while Rahul, Hardik, Axar and Jadeja will need to come good on that big day.
India’s bowling has been good. They defended a lowish score of 249 runs in the last encounter. Till now, the Indian bowlers have been successful in restricting the opposition team to a decent score and the batters have chased that down. Varun, Shami and Kuldeep, the full-time bowlers, have done a good job along with the all-rounders, Axar, Jaddu and Pandya.
The Kiwis have snatched wins from India in the finals of 2000 Champions Trophy and WTC finals in 2021 before. So, they know how to seal the victories against the Men in Blue in the all-important games. In the finals of the 2025 Champions Trophy, New Zealand would aim to repeat the same performances which they gave in the above-mentioned ICC finals.
The Blackcaps side will bank on their experienced batter, Kane Williamson, who came back in-form against India in the last encounter and Williamson also scored a brilliant ton against South Africa, which helped the Kiwis to enter the finals of this eight-team tournament in 2025.
Rachin Ravindra is also another name who has dominated this tournament so far and one cannot forget the bowlers from New Zealand who always have an upper hand against the Indian batters in all three formats. So the finals of CT 2025 is going to be a neck to neck contest.
