IND Vs ZIM: When Was The Last Time India Played A Test Series Versus Zimbabwe?

IND Vs ZIM: According to the schedule released by the England And Wales Cricket Board (ECB), Zimbabwe will tour England to play a lone red-ball match in 2025. That test match will be the first one for Zimbabwe on the England tour since 2003. England’s summer in 2025 will start with the lone Test match versus the Zimbabweans from 22nd May to 25th May 2025 at Nottingham.

India and Zimbabwe have played the series of the white ball format and recently the Men in Blue also toured Zimbabwe for a five-match series of the shortest format right after India’s Triumph in the T20 World Cup 2024. The visitors of that series had lost the opening T20I match. But they bounced back well to win the series by a margin of 4-1.

India has played just 11 red ball matches against Zimbabwe. They lost two, won seven, and two test matches ended in a draw. Zimbabwe has played just five matches in India. 3 of those red ball games were played at the National Capital of India in Delhi while two matches were played at Nagpur. In Zimbabwe, India has played six red ball matches till now. The Blues have won three of them, lost two games and one match was drawn.

Zimbabwe is set to play a Test match in England next year in 2025. So, now Zimbabwe can also travel to India for a red ball series or a lone Test match in the upcoming years. Today, in this segment, we shall reveal in which year India and Zimbabwe played the last Test series  –  

IND Vs ZIM: The Last Test Series Between These Countries Was Played In 2005 –

The Men in Blue had won the Test series when they played against Zimbabwe in 2005, which was the last time these two teams met each other in a red ball format. India had won the two-match series that time by a margin of 2-0. That Indian team was under Sourav Ganguly won the first match by an innings and 90 runs. In the second and the last match, India won by 10 wickets.

1. Irfan Pathan –

The former fast-bowling all-rounder was the man of the series when India played their last Test series versus Zimbabwe. Irfan Pathan picked up 21 scalps from just two matches. He also had the best bowling average of 11.29, the best bowling strike rate of 18.62, and an economy rate of 3.64. Pathan also took three five-wicket hauls which was the most and his best figures came when Irfan picked up seven wickets and gave only 59 runs.

2. Rahul Dravid –

The former Indian head coach who ended his coaching stint with the Men In Blue with a World Cup of the shortest format, was also called as The Wall because many great fast bowlers and spinners found it hard to break the defence of Rahul Dravid. In 2 matches and two innings, Rahul scored 175 runs, which was the most in that two-match series.

Dravid had the best batting average of 87.50 and he had the strike rate of 49.44. The Wall had also scored two half-centuries, which was also the most and with that, Dravid had also scored the most nineties in that series. Rahul’s best score in that series was 98 runs from 237 balls. He didn’t score a century. But still, The Wall was the highest run-getter of that series which India won by a margin of 2-0 in 2005 which was the last time that India had played a red ball series versus Zimbabwe.
