Under Rohit Sharma‘s leadership, the Men in Blue won the T20 World Cup 2024 in the United States of America and West Indies. However, their performance wasn’t as bad, as it looked in the Test Format. India dominated the WTC points table for the majority of the time.

But their performance in the fifty-overs format last year wasn’t up to the mark. India lost the ODI series in Sri Lanka, it was the only fifty-over series Rohit and Co played in 2024. Now, before the ICC Champions Trophy, India will compete in a three-match series of fifty-overs format against England starting from Thursday, 6th February 2025 at Cuttack.

India was the runners-up team of the ODI World Cup in 2023 and the Men in Blue were also the champions of the Asia Cup which was played in the fifty overs in that same year. India lost the finals to the Aussies when the ODI World Cup 2023 was played at home.

But India’s performance in the series against Sri Lanka didn’t look like they still are the Asian ODI Champions. In the series against Sri Lanka, India lost a match from a winning position and that encounter ended as a Tie. Then Sharma Ji and his boys also lost the series when they lost the next two matches of the three-match ODI series in Colombo.

  1. First ODI – India Vs Sri Lanka Ended In A Tie
  2. Second ODI – India Lost The Match By 32 Runs

After losing two back-to-back series of the red ball format, India’s HITMAN will look to turn things around the ODIs. As said earlier India will compete in a three-match series of the fifty overs format and then leave for Dubai for the ICC Champions Trophy. Rohit was India’s highest run-getter in the One Day International format in 2024.

He amassed 157 runs from just three fifty-over matches and three innings in that lone series played against the Sri Lankan Lions. Sharma Ji’s average was also the highest and his strike rate was also brilliant in 2024. HITMAN had an average of 52.33 and his strike rate was 141.44 in the One Day International form of the games played in 2024.

Rohit also scored two half-centuries in the three matches played in 2024, which was the most and he smashed the most fours 18 of them and the most sixes 8 of them, which was also the most by any player from India last year. But sadly no Indian batter has scored a century in the fifty overs format in 2024 and only Sharma Ji had scored a fifty as an Indian batter last year.
