Mohammed Shami.

India hasn’t lost any series of the shortest format under Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership. The last T20 International series India won was against South Africa in a four-match series. India won that series by a margin of 3-1. Mohammed Shami’s comeback will be a highlighted point in this series.

This veteran pace bowler, Shami played his last game in Indian colours in the 2023 ODI World Cup final at home which India lost against the Aussies at Ahmedabad. Apart from Shami’s return, Axar Patel’s name has been a talking point because the spin bowling all-rounder is named as the vice-captain for this five-match T20I series versus England.

Dhruv Jurel, Harshit Rana, Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy have also been picked in this shortest-format series. These four players were also the part of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024/2025 in the Aussies Nation Down Under. But Rishabh Pant wasn’t selected in this series.

India’s Squad – Suryakumar Yadav (C), Sanju Samson (wk), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel (vc), Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shami, Varun Chakravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sundar, Dhruv Jurel (wk).

The visitors, England won the first Test match of the series in Hyderabad. But the home side India bounced back well to win the series 4-1. England would take this series as a preparatory one because the T20 World Cup in 2026 would be also played in India along with Sri Lanka.

England’s Squad – Harry Brooks, Ben Duckett, Jamie Overton, Jos Buttler (C) and (WK), Jacob Bethell, Liam Livingstone, Rehan Ahmed, Jamie Overton, Brydon Carse, Jamie Smith, Philp Salt, Gus Atkitson, Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, Saqlain Mahmood and Adil Rashid.
