India Vs England: Brydon Carse Was The Top Performer For England In The 2nd T20I Game.

In the 2nd T20I match of the five-match series between India Vs England, the home side has taken a 2-0 lead after their win at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. England gave an improved performance with the ball and scared India to take the game away from them.

However, their issues with the bat are still haunting them and again apart from Jos Buttler, no other England batter is contributing from the top order. It was the contribution from the lower order which took the visitors, England, to 165 runs in their allotted quota of twenty overs.

Brydon Carse was terrific with the bat earlier in the innings and with the white cherry later when India was asked to chase down 166 runs. Carse scored 31 runs off just 17 deliveries and picked up 3 important scalps as well. The debutant, Jarmie Smith too played well in his first-ever T20I match. He scored 22 runs.

But despite all this, Buttler and Co are still searching for a win in this T20I series. Now to make a comeback and to level the series, England’s top order needs to fire. Salt, Duckett, Brook and Livingstone need to play well as the proper batters of their side. As it was said earlier, England can drop Duckkett and let Skipper Buttler open the innings.

Instead of Duckett, Gus Atkinson or Jacob Bethell can be the ideal replacements for Duckett in the playing XI of England for the third match. Akitson can provide England with more pace while Bethell can be used as an extra spin bowling option with Adil Rashid.

The Men in Blue had a tense finish to the 2nd T20I game on Saturday. Thanks to Tilak Varma’s batting master class which helped the home side, India to win the encounter at Chennai by just 2 wickets and four deliveries to spare. Varma continued his great form in the shortest form of the game.

After his terrific back-to-back centuries in South Africa, Tilak played the role of second fiddle in the run chase in Eden Gardens at Kolkata during the series opening match where Abhishek Sharma played a magnificent knock of 79 runs. But in Chennai, he anchored the innings perfectly and allowed India to win that match.

But India had concerns with the ball as well and their bowlers didn’t perform as well as they did in the 1st T20I match. The Indian bowlers leaked runs in the death overs. England was 106 with the loss of six wickets and they still managed to score 165 runs which was because of poor Indian bowling in the final four overs.

India needs to sort this issue out in the remaining games to come so that the batters will not have much work to do in the run chases. India’s batting was also not great. Apart from Varma, none of the batters could stay till the end and they gifted their wickets away in the pressure situations.

Especially Axar Patel and Arshdeep Singh, who played needless shorts and that had put pressure back on the team. India also needs to pick Mohammed Shami for the last three games of this series. All eyes will be on Shami on when and how he will return to the International arena.
