India Vs Sri Lanka: The Men in Blue Played Their Last Day Night Test Encounter In 2022 In Bengaluru

As we all know that the Day Night Test matches are played with the Pink Ball under lights and that is why, these matches are also called as Pink Ball Test matches. India’s first ever match with the Pink Ball was played against Bangladesh when they had toured India the last time in 2019. That Day Night Test encounter was played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The team under Virat Kohli had won that one sided encounter by an innings and 46 runs.

India had lost just 1 Day Night Test match till now in the four games played with the Pink Cherry. That thrashing defeat came versus the Aussies at Adelaide Oval when Kohli and Co toured Down Under in 2020 and despite that humiliating loss, India still came from behind and won the their second back to back series of the red ball format even when their regular skipper went back home and some of the premier players were out of the series due to the injury issues.

Against Sri Lanka, India had played their last match of the Day Night Test format and the Men in Blue won it by a whopping margin of 238 runs when the encounter was played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. India batted first and scored 252 runs.

While the visitors, Sri Lanka could amass just 109 runs in their 1st innings and India played even better in their second outing as they reached 303 for the loss of nine wickets and declared their innings with a mammoth lead of 446 runs. The Indian bowlers were on top again as they rattled the Sri Lankan batters for just 208 runs and won that Day Night Test match by 238 runs. This win for India came under the captaincy of HITMAN Sharma.

India Vs Sri Lanka: 3 Top Performers Of The Men In Blue In Their Last Pink Ball Test Match

1. Shreyas Iyer –

The Indian middle order batter, Shreyas Iyer held the innings together with the bat and that too in both the times in this Test match. The KKR skipper was the top scorer in the 1st and the 2nd innings. His 92-run knock from just 98 deliveries was the standout and that’s what allowed the home side to score 252 runs in their 1st outing of the Pink Ball Test Match.

Iyer was again brilliant for the Men in Blue when India batted for the second time in that Test match. He scored 67 runs which was also the top score for India in the second outing. Shreyas was awarded as the player of the match for his excellent knocks in the Day-Night Test match which India won. Iyer was also the second-highest run-getter in this two match series of the Test format.

2. Jasprit Bumrah –

India’s premier pace bowler was the one who dented the Sri Lankan batting lineup in the 1st innings and because of Boom Boom Bumrah, the Lankan were bundled out for just 109 runs. Along with Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav, Jasprit also picked up a five-wicket haul in a Pink Ball Test match for the Men in Blue. He achieved this feat in the 1st innings and also picked up three scalps in the second innings when Sri Lanka batted.

Ash is also terrific batter for the Men in Blue.
