iPhone Sales: Apple has achieved a significant milestone in India, as reports suggest that the company has made it to the top 5 smartphone brands in the Indian market for the first time. This is a major achievement for Apple, which is rapidly gaining popularity in the region.
According to primary data from IDC and Counterpoint Research, Apple recorded impressive sales during the festive season. In the fourth quarter of 2024, the company captured a market share of 9 to 10 percent in India. Apple launched its iPhone 16 series in September last year, which contributed to its strong performance.
iPhone Sales: No-Cost EMI and Discounts Propel Apple’s Market Share in India
During the festive season, customers availed 24-month no-cost EMI and special discount offers. The e-commerce platform also provided attractive deals on the iPhone 15 and other models along with the launch of the iPhone 16, leading to a surge in sales in the country.
According to reports, Counterpoint Research Director Tarun Pathak said that Apple’s sales have been growing steadily over the last five years. It is estimated that by 2026, the company’s sales in the Indian market can reach 15 million units, making India the third largest market for Apple globally.

Year-on-Year iPhone Sales Growth
Currently, India is Apple’s fifth largest market. According to reports, Apple shipped 12 million iPhones to India in 2024, compared to 9 million in 2023, an increase of 34-35% year-on-year. The company is constantly expanding its manufacturing capacity in India.
It is noteworthy that Apple has started manufacturing the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max in India. From 2024, the company is producing its Pro models in collaboration with Foxconn and Pegatron. Apart from this, Apple is increasing the production of AirPods, MacBooks and iPads in the country.
