BCCI has completed preparations for the grand opening of IPL 2025. The first match will be on March 22, but before that there will be some pre-match programs, followed by the game in the evening.
Only one match is scheduled on the opening day, but the very next day there will be a double header, in which two matches will be played. This means that there will be a total of three matches in the first two days.
Meanwhile, it is important to know the match timings. When will the IPL matches start? When will the toss take place? It is very important to keep track of these details; otherwise, you might miss the game. So, make sure to stay updated!
IPL 2025: Evening Matches to Begin at 7:30 PM, Toss at 7 PM
The opening match of IPL 2025 will be played on March 22 between Ajinkya Rahane-led KKR and Rajat Patidar-led RCB at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
Since there will be some special events on the first day, the event will start early. As per the match timings, the game will start at 7:30 PM sharp while the toss will take place at 7 PM.
Although there may be a slight delay due to pre-match ceremonies, every effort will be made to ensure that the toss takes place on time and the match starts at exactly 7:30 PM.
IPL 2025: Afternoon Matches to Begin at 3:30 PM
The timings for the evening matches in IPL 2025 will remain the same, with the toss taking place at 7 pm and the first ball bowled at 7:30 pm. Since the match schedule is strictly followed, make sure to keep a track of the timings, else you might miss out on the action.
For the afternoon matches on Sunday, the toss will take place at 3 pm and the match will start at exactly 3:30 pm. The aim is to finish the first match before the second match starts, although there have been occasional instances when two matches run simultaneously for a few minutes. This has been seen in previous IPL seasons as well.
Three Matches in the First Two Days of IPL 2025
KKR will take on RCB in the opening match of IPL 2025 on March 22. The next day, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will face Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the afternoon match on March 23. Pat Cummins will continue to lead SRH, while Sanju Samson will remain the captain of RR.
The evening match will see Chennai Super Kings (CSK) take on Mumbai Indians (MI). Ruturaj Gaikwad is the newly appointed captain of CSK. Although Hardik Pandya is the official captain of MI, he is going to miss the first match.
It will be interesting to see who will lead MI in his absence, with Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav emerging as the top contenders for the role.
