IPL Brand Value Reaches ₹1 Lakh Crore

IPL-The total brand value of the world’s most popular T20 cricket league IPL has increased by 13% compared to last year to $ 12 billion i.e. Rs 1.01 lakh crore. This information has been given in the new report of Brand Finance, a company that does brand valuation.

In 2023, for the first time, the total brand value of IPL crossed $ 10 billion. Last year it was $ 10.7 billion (Rs 90,679 crore). At the same time, in 2009, the valuation was $ 2 billion i.e. Rs 16,943 crore. The Indian Premier League started in the year 2008. Brand Finance has been releasing reports on the brand value of IPL since 2009.

The brand value of four teams crosses $100 million for the first time

The Brand Finance report also states that the brand value of four IPL teams – Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mumbai Indians (MI), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) – has also crossed $100 million (Rs 847 crore) for the first time.

CSK has the highest brand value among the 10 IPL teams

CSK has the highest brand value among the 10 IPL teams. Chennai’s value has increased by 52% to Rs 1,033 crore. Mumbai is second in brand value, its valuation has increased by 36% to Rs 1,008 crore.

RCB is at number three with a brand value of Rs 991 crore (+67%). KKR is at number four with a brand value of Rs 923 crore (+38%). SRH is at number five on this list.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s brand value has grown the most

Among all the teams, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s brand value has grown the most. The team’s valuation has increased by 76% to Rs 719 crore. This reflects the league’s growing international influence and financial achievement.

Gujarat Titans’ brand value grew the least by 5%

While Rajasthan Royals’ brand value grew by 30%, Delhi Capitals by 24%, Punjab Kings by 49%, and Lucknow Super Giants by 29%. Gujarat Titans’ brand value grew the least by just 5%.

According to Brand Finance, there is a lot of scope for expansion in the top-5 IPL teams. These teams have the potential to increase their brand value to the level of the top 5 teams of popular football leagues – English Premier League (EPL), La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, and League-1.

The combined brand value of the top-5 IPL teams is Rs 4,667 crore

The combined brand value of the top-5 IPL teams is $551 million i.e. Rs 4,667 crore, which is much less than the football league. The combined brand value of the top-5 teams of the Bundesliga is $2.9 billion i.e. Rs 24,566 crore. At the same time, the brand value of the top-5 teams of EPL is $6.7 billion (Rs 56,756 crore).

According to Ajimon Francis, Managing Director of Brand Finance India, the effective business structure and match organization of IPL has become a blueprint for leagues around the world. This has strengthened the position of BCCI and at the same time opened opportunities for the growth of domestic cricket talent.
