On Tuesday, November 20, IndiGo flight 6E-7468 was flying from Jaipur to Dehradun when one of its engines failed shortly after takeoff. As a result, the flight had to make an emergency landing in Delhi.
The plane remained in the air for about 30 minutes due to the engine failure, when the passengers got to know about the problem, they panicked. There were about 70 passengers on board the flight.
The plane was initially scheduled to depart from Jaipur airport at 5:55 pm, but due to technical reasons it was delayed by 40 minutes and the plane took off at 6:35 pm.
Shortly after takeoff, the pilot detected a fault in the engine. After this, the pilot immediately contacted Delhi’s Air Traffic Control (ATC) and sought permission for an emergency landing. After getting permission, the plane landed safely at Delhi airport at 8:10 pm.
70 Passengers Were Onboard
There were about 70 passengers on board the plane and they were extremely worried during the incident. After the engine failure, the plane remained in the air for about 30 minutes.
However, due to the presence of mind of the pilot and the crew, all the passengers were landed safely. The passengers were provided with refreshments and other facilities at the Delhi airport. After this, IndiGo arranged another flight to take the passengers to Dehradun.
What did Delhi Airport Officials Say?
Delhi airport officials said that IndiGo flight 6E-7468 was diverted to Delhi after its ATR turboprop engine (VT-IRA) malfunctioned. The IndiGo plane landed safely at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Airport at around 8:10 pm.
After the emergency landing, all the passengers were safely brought to the airport terminal and then sent to Dehradun by another flight.
