Kia Syros to Launch in India on February2

Kia Syros-Kia Motors India has announced the launch date of its Kia Syros today (January 2). The Korean company will launch its premium midsize SUV on February 2. Kia revealed the car in the Indian market last month with many segment-first premium features. Booking of the car will start from January 3.

This is the first car in the sub-4 meter segment in India, all of whose seats are ventilated and electrically adjustable. Apart from this, segment-first features like a 60:40 split recline rear seat and panoramic sunroof have also been given in the premium SUV. At the same time, features like Level-2 Advanced Driving Assist System (ADAS), 360-degree camera and 6 airbags (standard) have also been provided for safety.

Booking will start from January 3

This is the fifth SUV of the company in the Indian market, which has been placed between Seltos and Sonet. The new Kia Syros has been designed keeping in mind more premium customers than Sonet. The Syros has been introduced in 6 variants. These include HTK, HTK (O), HTK+, HTX, HTX+ and HTX+ (O).

The company is calling it a mini carnival. Its booking will start on January 3 and delivery from February 2025. The company has not announced the prices yet. The price of Syros can start from Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom).

This vehicle will not have direct competition, but it will be a cheaper option than compact SUV cars like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Kia Seltos. It will also compete with sub-compact SUV cars like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and Hyundai Venue.

Exterior: Kia’s first ICE car in India with flush-type door handles

The exterior design of the Kia Syros follows the company’s global design language, which is inspired by the Kia Carnival, Kia EV3, and Kia EV9. The Syros is the first ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) car in Kia’s Indian lineup to feature flush-type door handles.

The Kia Syros features a traditional boxy and upright SUV design, with vertical LED headlamps flanking the bumper. These include three LED projector units and a unique drop-down LED daytime running light (DRL) like the new Carnival. The upper portion of the front fascia is sealed and looks almost EV-like. The air intake is integrated into the lower portion, which is highlighted by contrasting silver trim at the bottom.

On the side, the Kia Syros features black A, C, and D pillars, which are combined with the body-colored B pillar, which creates a shining and clean window line. Other highlights include thick plastic cladding on the wheel arches and a special kink in the rear window line.

The lower variants of the car will get 16 and the higher variants will get 17-inch 3-petal alloy wheels. The tall boy design at the rear makes the car look like a minivan. Here the flat tailgate has L-shaped taillights around the rear windscreen and the rear bumper is given a stylish two-tone black and silver finish.

Interior: Dual-tone cabin theme

Its cabin is quite futuristic. The Kia Syros is offered with a black and grey dual-tone cabin theme, whose dashboard is inspired by the Kia EV9 and it also has a 2 spoke steering wheel. Apart from this, it also has a gloss gray element covering the entire width of the dashboard, while its AC vents are slim and their shape is rectangular.

The biggest highlight of its cabin is the triple-screen setup given in it. It has two displays of 12.3-12.3 inches for the infotainment system and driver display and a 5-inch unit for climate control. Kia claims that together they form a 30-inch display.

Just below the touchscreen unit, there is a scroll-type control for volume control along with physical controls for infotainment. Below this, there are physical controls for the climate control unit, and below these are multiple charging options which include a Type C port and wireless charging pad.

Apart from this, push button start/stop, 360-degree camera, and parking sensor buttons are also provided in the console near the gear shifter. The gear lever given in its DCT and automatic variants has been finished in dual-tone matte and gloss gray color, while an orange strip has also been given for a sporty look.

The interior door handles have been given brushed silver finishing while 3 level ventilated seat controls have been positioned on the door. Kia has also given a 4-way powered driver seat in the Syros.

The seats have also been given a dual-tone black and gray pattern. On which leatherette upholstery has been given. For the rear passengers, it also has a center armrest, sun blinds, and 3-level seat ventilation. Like the front, ventilation control has also been given on the rear seat which is positioned on the door.

For convenience, it also has Type C charging ports and AC vents on the rear seat. At the same time, an armrest has also been given on the front row seats in which an air purifier is installed. Kia has given a panoramic sunroof in the top variants of the Syros while a single pane unit has also been given in its lower variants.

Performance: 1-litre turbo-petrol engine

The Kia Syros has two engine options for performance. It has a 1-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that generates 120hp of power and 172Nm of torque. For transmission, this engine will have the option of a 6-speed manual gearbox (MT) and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox (DCT).
