The rivalry between the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and the Delhi government is well known. There is often a rift between the two over government files and development projects. But on Friday, such a moment came when the LG VK Saxena praised the current Chief Minister of Delhi in her presence.
LG VK Saxena was addressing the convocation of Indira Gandhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW), where Delhi Chief Minister Atishi was also present. During his speech, the LG said, “I am happy that today the Chief Minister of Delhi is a woman.”
He further added, “I can say with confidence that he is a thousand times better than his predecessor.” It was evident that the LG’s comment was a subtle jibe at former Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal.
Atishi Became the Chief Minister in Place of Arvind Kejriwal
It is worth noting that Atishi was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Delhi in September this year. This happened after Arvind Kejriwal got bail from the Supreme Court in the alleged Delhi liquor scam case.
However, many restrictions were imposed on Kejriwal during the bail, such as he cannot visit the Chief Minister’s office, cannot sign any file, cannot influence witnesses related to the case or make any comment about the case.
Atishi was appointed the Chief Minister of Delhi on September 21 after Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation.
