Online food delivery platform Swiggy has shared details of the most ordered food items in 2024. According to the company, like 2023, biryani remained the most preferred food this year too, with 8.3 crore biryani orders delivered since January 1.
While biryani dominated the charts, dosa also surprised everyone by securing the second spot on the list of most preferred dishes.
158 Biryani Orders Every Minute on Swiggy
As 2024 comes to an end and the new year 2025 approaches, food delivery platform Swiggy has released its annual report, which shows the most favourite dishes ordered between January 1, 2024 and November 22, 2024.
With 8.3 crore orders, biryani has once again emerged as the most popular dish in India. According to Swiggy, an average of 158 plates of biryani were ordered every minute across the country.
Hyderabad topped the chart with 97 lakh biryani orders, making it the city with the highest demand for this dish.
Dosa Secures Second Spot
Dosa became the second most ordered dish after biryani, with 23 million orders placed between January 1 and November 22.
According to Swiggy’s report, the platform’s quick delivery service Bolt also caught people’s attention. In Bikaner, a sweet lover received three flavours of ice cream in just 3 minutes, which shows the speed of Swiggy’s delivery.
Among sweets, Rasmalai and Custard Apple (Sitafal) ice cream were the most liked this year.
One Person Spent ₹50,000 on Pasta
Also, pasta is on the list of favourite food items of Swiggy customers. Its popularity is so high that a user from Bengaluru spent ₹49,900 on various pasta dishes.
According to the report, chicken burger was the most popular order between midnight and 2 am, followed by biryani.
