Pahalgam Terror Attack: Increase Flights to All Connected Destinations – DGCA
Most of the people killed in Tuesday’s terror attack were tourists from other states. In an advisory issued on Wednesday, the DGCA said that there has been an unprecedented increase in demand from tourists wishing to return home after the Pahalgam attack.
“In view of this, airlines are advised to take immediate action to increase the number of flights in response to the increasing demand. Further, efforts should be made to ensure seamless connectivity from Srinagar to various destinations across the country to facilitate evacuation of stranded tourists,” the aviation regulator said.
Airlines Told Not to Hike Flight Fares
The DGCA has directed airlines to provide all necessary assistance to tourists facing unforeseen circumstances and challenges in this difficult time. It is worth noting that Tata Group’s Air India and IndiGo operated additional flights from Srinagar to various parts of the country on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Ministry has directed airlines to ensure that there is no increase in flight fares on the Srinagar route.
