T20 World Cup: India won two World Cup events of the shorter version of the game. Under Mahendra Singh Dhoni in 2007 in South Africa, and last year in 2024, when the T20 World Cup was played in the United States of America and the West Indies, when Rohit Sharma led the Men in Blue.
But still, there is just one centurion from the Indian Team in the history of the T20 World Cup. Rohit Sharma, the former Indian T20I skipper, has four T20I tons to his name. Suryakumar Yadav is the next best behind HITMAN with three tons in the shortest format, and King Kohli has just a century in this format.
However, none of these above-mentioned cricket players have scored a century in the ICC mega event of the shortest form of the game. Today, in this segment, we shall mention that lone batsman from India who scored the only century in the T20 World Cup history.
Suresh Raina Is Still The Only Indian To Score A Hundred In The T20 World Cup History –

On this day in 2010, Suresh Raina became the first ever Indian batter to score a century in the shortest format and at the same time, Sonu (Suresh Raina) still holds the record of scoring a century in the T20 World Cup event. Raina was also the first Indian batter to amass a century in all three forms of this gentlemen’s game.
India won the first match of the 2010 T20 World Cup, which was played in the Caribbean, and Suresh Raina played a key role in that match, which the Men in Blue won against a strong team of South Africa. Raina was also the highest run-getter in that tournament as well.
In that match, South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first. Murali Vijay was clean bowled for zero. Vijay was out on the second ball of the first over, and then, Suresh Raina came at the number three position and took the game away from the Proteas.
Raina held the Indian innings together and scored 101 runs off just 60 balls in that match. This knock by Raina had 9 fours and 5 sixes. Raina was well supported by Yuvraj Singh, who scored 37 runs off 30 balls. The duo shared an 88-run stand for the third wicket.
That partnership between Yuvi and Raina helped India to score 186 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their 20-over quota. India also succeeded in stopping South Africa for just 172 runs. For India, Ashish Nehra and Piyush Chawla took one wicket each. India won the match by 14 runs. India won that match because of Raina’s only ton in the T20 World Cup history.
