Nokia-Airtel Deal – Nokia has secured a multi-billion extension deal from Bharti Airtel. Under this deal, Nokia will install its 4G and 5G equipment in Indian cities for multi-year i.e. many years. Bharti Airtel was informed about this deal on Wednesday (20 November).
Bharti Airtel Vice Chairman and MD Gopal Vittal said that this deal will improve Airtel’s connectivity solutions. Vittal said, ‘This strategic partnership with Nokia will make our network infrastructure secure for the future.
Apart from this, along with unmatched user experience to the customers, it will provide a network that will be eco-friendly and reduce the impact on the environment.’ This deal will give premium 5G connectivity and high-quality service for Airtel subscribers

Pekka Lundmark, President and CEO of Nokia, said that this agreement strengthens the collaboration between the two companies and will increase the energy efficiency of Airtel’s network. Nokia CEO noted that this deal will provide premium 5G connectivity and high-quality service to Airtel subscribers.
Nokia-Airtel has a two-decade-old partnership for network equipment
Nokia and Bharti Airtel have a more than two-decade-old partnership for network equipment. Both have recently launched the ‘Green 5G Initiative’ to improve the energy efficiency of Airtel’s network and reduce carbon emissions.
Airtel was earlier in talks with Nokia, Ericsson, and Samsung
On October 16, media reports said that Sunil Mittal-led Bharti Airtel is in talks with its telecom equipment suppliers – Nokia, Ericsson, and Samsung.
As per the agreement in August 2022, these companies are expected to supply about 50%, 45%, and 5% of the new equipment requirements for Airtel’s 4G and 5G networks.
This deal with Airtel comes after Vodafone Idea’s $3.6 billion equipment deal with three major equipment vendors. This deal of VI is to expand the 4G network and gradually start the 5G service.
Airtel earns Rs 3,593 crore profit in second quarter
Telecom company Bharti Airtel earned a profit of Rs 3,593 crore in the second quarter of FY 2025. It has increased by 168% on an annual basis. In the same quarter a year ago, the company had a profit of Rs 1,340 crore.
Bharti Airtel’s consolidated operational revenue grew 12% year-on-year to Rs 41,473 crore in the July-September quarter. The company’s revenue was Rs 37,043 crore in the same quarter a year ago.
