New Zealand hasn’t won a red ball series in India yet while The Blues have won two series of the Test format in the Kiwi nation. India’s first-ever series win in the red ball format came in 1968 under the leadership of Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, who is also known as Tiger Pataudi and Nawab Of Pataudi. In 2009, India won their second Test series in New Zealand under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

India hasn’t won a single series of the red ball format since 2009. India had toured the Kiwi nation twice after their series win in New Zealand. But despite being a good team on the paper, The Men in Blue have failed to clinch the red ball series in those two attempts. The last time when India played a red ball in New Zealand was in 2020, the series which was scheduled before the COVID-19 pandemic.

But India couldn’t win the two-match series of the red ball format in the Kiwi nation. They started their tour with a whitewash series win in the shortest format. The Men in Blue won the five-match series of the T20 International format by a margin of 5-0 and they had also won two super overs matches as well.

However, India’s winning momentum was stopped by the Kiwis. In the three-match ODI series, India was whitewashed by a margin of 3-0 and the Blackcaps also won both the red ball games and the series by a margin of 2-0. Virat Kohli was the skipper of the Indian team in that series for all three formats.
