Jasprit Bumrah got to this feat against West Indies at Jamaica when India toured the Caribbean in 2019. That was just the 8th over of the West Indies in 1st innings of the second red ball match. After John Campbell was caught behind by Rishabh Pant off Bumrah’s bowling.

Then Boom Boom Bumrah delivered a magical spell which saw 3 wickets in the next 3 balls. Darren Bravo, Sharmah Brooks and Roston Chase were the victims of Bumrah. In just 12.1 overs, Jasprit had got six wickets and conceded only 27 runs. He also bowled three maiden overs in that spell.

On This Day: Who Are The Other Two Indian Bowlers To Get 3 wickets In 3 Balls Of A Test Match?

1. Harbhajan Singh –

Harbhajan Singh

The former Indian spin bowler, Harbhajan Singh achieved this feat at Eden Gardens in Kolkata in the 2001 red ball series and that too against the world champions of that time,  The Mighty Aussies and Singh was the first Indian to take a hat trick in Test Matches.

It was impossible to beat Australia, whether home or away because they came victorious every time. This was the first time that an Indian bowler took the hat trick in a Test match and won the game for India.

This test match against Australia at Eden Gardens is mainly remembered for VVS Laxman’s 281-run knock and Rahul Dravid’s 180-run knock and their majestic partnership of 376 runs which saved India the blushes. This marathon innings from both players came after they were asked to follow on in their 2nd innings.

But no one remembers the contribution from Harbhajan Singh. It was his hat trick which allowed India a magical win at Eden Gardens. The Aussies batted well in their 1st innings and they were in the game during their 2nd innings.

However, it was Harbhajan Singh, who made all the difference with the red cherry in hand. Bhajji dismissed Ricky Pointing, Adam Gilchrist and Shane Warne in 3 back to back deliveries which allowed a famous Indian win at the most iconic venues in the country.

2. Irfan Pathan –

The former fast-bowling all-rounder was the second player to bag a hat trick in test matches for the Men in Blue and he took that hat trick with no run on the board. Irfan Pathan achieved this feat in Karachi when India toured Pakistan for the test series in 2006.

Pathan picked up the opener Salman Butt, skipper and in-form batter of that time, Younis Khan and Mohammad Yusuf in three back-to-back deliveries. Even though Pakistan won this game by a huge margin of 341 runs. But this match is still being remembered for Irfan Pathan’s Test hat trick.
