Pahalgam Attack: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of those killed in the Pahalgam terror attack.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, those seriously injured in the attack will be given an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each and those with minor injuries will be given Rs 1 lakh each.
Calling the Pahalgam terror attack a heinous act, CM Omar Abdullah strongly condemned the incident. He said, “I am deeply shocked by the brutal and senseless attack on innocent civilians.”
The CMO statement said, “Arrangements have been made to transport the victims back to their homes. The injured are being provided with the best medical care. We offer our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. The Jammu and Kashmir government stands with you in this difficult time. Terrorism will never be able to break our resolve. We will not rest until those responsible for this barbarity are brought to justice.”
Pahalgam Attack: What Happened on Tuesday Afternoon?
On Tuesday afternoon, terrorists opened fire at Baisaran, a popular tourist spot near Pahalgam in Kashmir, killing 26 people, most of them tourists from other states.
The attack is the deadliest in the Valley after the 2019 Pulwama attack. Following the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cut short his two-day visit to Saudi Arabia and returned to Delhi on Wednesday morning.
