Chinese tech company Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi on Wednesday (November 20) launched the Redmi A4 5G smartphone in India. It is the world’s first 5G smartphone with Snapdragon 4S Gen 2 chipset. Qualcomm builds this processor on 4-nanometer fabrications, which include two 2GHz Cortex-A78 cores and six 1.8GHz Cortex-A55 cores.
The Redmi A4 5G has a 50MP AI camera. The company launched it with 4GB RAM and two storage variants. It includes 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 4GB RAM + 128GB storage variants.
The company introduced the Redmi A4 5G at an initial price of Rs 10,999, but the launch offer provides a discount of Rs 2,500. Its sale will start on November 27.
The company first introduced the phone at the India Mobile Congress-2024 event held in Delhi last month. It comes with two color options. This includes Starry Black and Sparkle Purple color options.
Redmi A4 5G: Specifications
Display: The Redmi A4 5G has a 6.68-inch HD+ display with a 1640×720 pixel resolution. It is a waterdrop notch-style screen, which is built on an LCD panel. The display works at a 120Hz refresh rate with a 240Hz touch sampling rate. Its peak brightness is 600 nits and it also comes with blue light eye protection.
The company launched the phone with 4GB of LPDDR4x physical RAM. It also supports 4GB of virtual RAM. This gives the phone the power of 8GB of RAM. For storage, it has the option of 64GB and 128GB of memory. You can expand the storage up to 1TB using a micro SD card.
OS: Redmi A4 5G works on the Android 14 operating system. With this, 2 years of OS upgrade is available. That is, it can be updated to Android 16. The mobile works on HyperOS, with which 4 years of security updates are also available.
Camera: For photography, a dual camera setup with LED flash is available on the back panel of the mobile. It includes a 50-megapixel primary camera sensor with an F/1.8 aperture and AI lens. At the same time, there is a 5-megapixel camera with F/2.2 aperture in the front for selfies and video calling. Both cameras can record 1080P/30FPS video.
Battery: The Redmi A4 features a 5160mAh battery that provides power backup. It supports 18W fast charging technology to quickly charge the battery. Additionally, Xiaomi includes a 33W charger for free in the box with the phone.
Other Features: Redmi A4 5G smartphone supports 5G Bands. For connectivity, it has Bluetooth 5.3 and dual-band WiFi 5. This smartphone carries an IP52 rating and includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security.
