Ropeway to Kedarnath Approved by Modi Cabinet: In a major decision taken during the Union Cabinet meeting on Wednesday (March 5), the Kedarnath Dham has received a big gift. The Modi government has approved the ropeway project in Kedarnath, Uttarakhand. A 12.9-kilometer-long ropeway will be constructed from Sonprayag to Kedarnath. The project is estimated to cost ₹4,081 crore and will be built by the National Highways Logistics Management.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated, “This ropeway will be highly beneficial for devotees. The current 9-hour journey will be completed in just 36 minutes. The ropeway will accommodate 36 people at a time.”
Boost to Char Dham Pilgrimage and Local Economy
Ropeway to Kedarnath Approved by Modi Cabinet: This initiative is expected to increase the number of pilgrims visiting Char Dham, benefiting local businesses and improving the region’s economic condition. With the ropeway in place, travel will be possible for six months of the year, reducing the excessive pressure on resources in the first two months of the pilgrimage season. Hemkund Sahib Ropeway Project Also Approved
