Sensex – Today, on 24 December, the Sensex closed at 78,472, down 67 points. Nifty also fell 25 points and closed at 23,727. Meanwhile, BSE Smallcap closed at 55,023, up 205 points.
Out of the 30 Sensex stocks, 17 fell and 13 rose. Out of the 50 Nifty stocks, 28 rose and 22 fell. Among the NSE sectoral indices, the metal sector closed with a maximum decline of 0.83%.
Asian markets traded mixed
- Infosys, SBI, HDFC Bank and Power Grid pulled the market down. Whereas, ITC, Tata Motors, TCS and Mahindra & Mahindra pulled the market up.
- In the Asian market, Japan’s Nikkei fell by 0.32% and Korea’s Kospi fell by 0.061%. At the same time, China’s Shanghai Composite Index closed with a gain of 1.26%.
- According to NSE data, on December 20, the net sale of foreign investors (FIIs) was Rs 168 crore. During this period, domestic investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 2,227 crore.
- On December 23, America’s Dow Jones closed at 42,906 with a gain of 0.16%. The S&P 500 index closed at 5,974 with a gain of 0.73% and the Nasdaq closed at 19,764 with a gain of 0.98%.

On the first trading day of the week, December 23, the Sensex closed at 78,540 with a gain of 498 points. Nifty also rose by 165 points, closing at 23,753. At the same time, BSE Smallcap fell 331 points to close at 54,817.
Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 20 rose and 10 fell. Out of 50 Nifty stocks, 32 rose and 18 fell. The realty sector closed with the highest gain of 1.47%.
