Social Media Platform X Down for the Third Time in 6 Hours, Down for Half an Hour in the Afternoon, 1 Hour in the Evening, Users Unable to Access

Elon Musk’s social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) went down for the third time on Monday. This is causing problems to users around the world.

It went down for the first time for half an hour around 3:30 pm. Then it was down for an hour from 7 pm in the evening. After this, it went down again at 8:30 pm.

Users complained about the website, app and server connection. More than 3000 complaints from India, 18,000 from the US and more than 10000 from the UK were registered on the website Down Detector throughout the day.

downdetector.in is a platform that tracks outages of websites and online services in real time.

41% people had problems due to app connection

According to Downdetector, about 40% people had problems in the app. At the same time, 52% people had problems in accessing the web and about 7% said that they had problems in the server connection.

Two outages of X reported in the past days

X was down from around 1.15 pm on 26 April 2024. 145 people reported problems in using X on Down Detector. Users were facing problems in using it on both web and app.

X’s service was also down on 21 December 2023. Users across the world, including India, were facing problems in accessing X from around 11 am on Thursday. Users were seeing a message instead of posts, which read ‘Welcome to X’.

X has more than 33 crore users

According to Statista, X has about 33 crore users worldwide. It has 9.5 crore users in America and 2.7 crore users in India. About 50 crore posts are made every day. It was launched in July 2006.

Elon Musk bought X in 2022

On 27 October 2022, Elon Musk bought Twitter (now X). This deal was done for $44 billion. As per today’s rate, this amount is around Rs 3.84 lakh crore.

Musk first fired four top officials of the company, CEO Parag Aggarwal, Finance Chief Ned Segal, Legal Executive Vijaya Gadde and Sean Edgett.

On 5 June 2023, Linda Yaccarino joined as the CEO of X. Prior to this, she was the Chairman of Global Advertising and Partnerships at NBC Universal.
