Arvind Kejriwal: The Supreme Court has deferred the hearing on the petition challenging the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The new hearing date is set for September 5. This postponement means Kejriwal will remain in jail for the time being.
CBI Response and Bail Plea
Arvind filed two petitions against his arrest. The CBI has responded to one petition but has requested additional time for the second. The Supreme Court has granted the CBI a week to file its reply. On August 14, the Court refused to grant interim bail to Kejriwal. His lawyer, AM Singhvi, described the situation as unusual and sought interim bail.
‘Kejriwal Aayenge’ Campaign
In light of the postponed hearing, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched the ‘Kejriwal Aayenge’ campaign in preparation for the 2025 assembly elections. AAP Rajya Sabha MP and National General Secretary Sandeep Pathak noted that Delhiites are eagerly awaiting Kejriwal’s release. Many projects have stalled since his arrest, and residents hope his return will lead to the resolution of ongoing issues and completion of pending work.
Challenge to Delhi High Court’s Order
Delhi CM, challenged the Delhi High Court’s decision upholding his arrest in the corruption case related to the alleged excise policy scam. The Supreme Court has allowed the CBI an additional week to respond to Kejriwal’s petition.
