Supreme Court shuts down all schools in Delhi-NCR, 10th-12th classes will also be online

The sudden rise in pollution level in Delhi-NCR has made life difficult. On Tuesday, Delhi’s overall AQI reached 498. Due to this ‘extremely serious’ problem, people are facing difficulty in breathing, irritation in the eyes and other health problems. On this, the Supreme Court has expressed deep displeasure over the Delhi government. The court says that when the air quality in the city was so bad, why did they take so long to implement Grape 3 and Grape 4?

All classes of 10th-12th online

After this, Justice Oka asked what steps the government has taken to stop pollution. On this, Delhi government lawyer Jyoti Mehndiratta said that except for 10th and 12th, all classes have been made online and studies up to class 5 are closed. On hearing this statement, Justice Oka got angry and said, what kind of joke is this? Do the students of these classes have different lungs? Their physical classes should also be stopped and studies should be done online.

After this, the court said that even if the AQI falls below 300, Grape 4 will not be removed without the permission of the court. On this, lawyer Jyoti said that schools are still open in UP and Haryana. Responding to this, UP government lawyer Garima Prasad said that Grape 4 has already been implemented and all schools up to class 12 have been closed from November 19.

100 flights delayed at Delhi airport, 15 diverted

About 100 flights were delayed due to smog caused by pollution at Delhi airport. 15 flights had to be diverted and 7 were cancelled. Most of the flights were diverted to Jaipur and some to Dehradun. Airlines like Air India, SpiceJet, IndiGi told passengers through social media that flights may be affected due to low visibility in Delhi, which is facing high levels of pollution.

Lawyers also knocked on the door of CJI

Due to which the lawyers of Supreme Court and other courts are also very upset. On Tuesday, lawyers including Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Kapil Sibal knocked on the door of CJI Sanjeev Khanna. They appealed to the CJI that pollution has become unbridled, so as far as possible, courts should allow digital hearing. CJI said that such instructions have been given to the judges.
