Additionally, teams finishing third in the group stage were awarded ₹2.06 crores. For every match won up to the Super-8 stage, teams earned ₹25.9 lakhs.
Distribution of Prize Money Among Players
According to media reports, the prize money received by the winning team is equally distributed among all the players. Therefore, the ₹20.36 crores won by India for clinching the T20 World Cup 2024 title will be shared equally among the team members. In addition to the team prize money, individual accolades such as the Man of the Match award come with separate prize money and trophies.

The Man of the Match title is awarded to the player who delivers an outstanding performance in a particular game. In the final match of the T20 World Cup 2024, India batted first and set a target of 176 runs. South Africa, in response, could only manage 169 runs. Virat Kohli played a pivotal role in India’s innings, scoring 76 runs, while Akshar Patel contributed 47 runs. For his brilliant performance, Virat Kohli was named the Player of the Match. However, the celebration was bittersweet as Kohli announced his retirement from T20 cricket, making this his last Player of the Match award in the format.
