The current opening batter of the T20 International format, Abhishek Sharma had achieved the milestone of being the second batter from the Men in Blue nation to score the second-fastest half-century in the T20I format against England in the 1st match of the series played in Kolkata.
In a run chase of a modest score of 133 runs, India had a decent start to their innings. Sanju and Sharma added 41 runs on the board in quick time. But India’s lost Sanju and Surya in the same over and it was Abhishek who held the innings together with Tilak Varma and guided the Men in Blue to a seven wicket win.
Abhishek Sharma reached his half-century in just 20 deliveries during that knock of 79 runs and thus he became the second fastest batter from India to score a fifty against England in the shorter version of the game. Sharma Ji also smashed the most sixes in a run chase during his wonderful knock in the series opening match at the iconic Eden Gardens.
