Now the name of the caller will also be visible when a call comes from an unknown number on the phone. Telecom companies have started trials in Mumbai and Haryana circles. According to media reports, there is a plan to start this service in other cities as well.
Its name is Calling Name Presentation (CNAP). This can help prevent spam and fraud calls. There has been an increase in such calls in recent times. After pressure from the government and Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the companies have started this testing.
Telecom companies testing CNP
According to a report by Times of India (TOI), a senior official of the telecom company said that we are testing it in limited numbers to know the result of how CNP is working. In this, the name of the caller will also be visible along with the number during the incoming call. We will share the results of the testing with the Department of Telecommunications, so that a practical decision can be taken about the proposed service.
Telecom: This service will be like Truecaller
Talking to Moneycontrol, Rishit Jhunjhunwala, Managing Director of Truecaller India, said that the CNAP service will be similar to the company’s existing caller ID application, but it will not have any adverse effect on their business.
