Due to the scorching heat in the country, there are reports of transformers blowing and electrical wires catching fire every day.
In many states like UP, Rajasthan the temperature has reached 48 degrees and red alert has been issued there. This increasing temperature has now become unbearable for humans as well as for electric poles and wires. The situation is such that due to the increasing load the transformers have become hot and the wires on the poles have heated up and turned red. According to some figures, 37 transformers are burning every day due to sudden increase in temperature. Incidents of transformer fire have also come to light at many places.
Why are transformers stalling
After May 26, the temperature has reached 47 degrees at many places. Due to so much heat, people are taking help of electrical appliances like AC, cooler. Due to which there is load on the transformer and it gets hot and starts blazing. Same is the condition of electrical wires also. These also get affected due to exposure to sunlight throughout the day.
Maintaining the temperature of the transformers with a cooler
Due to so much load, transformers are getting damaged again and again and for their repairing the fire team has to run here and there. The electricity board is also worried about this. . At many places, a cooler has been installed to maintain the temperature of the transformer and others are covering it with a gunny bag and cold water is being poured on it.
Many accidents happened
Many accidents have also occurred due to fire in electrical wires. Many times people park their vehicles around poles unknowingly. Due to which these accidents are happening. Actually, due to extreme heat the electric cables are catching fire. In such a situation, when a vehicle is parked near them, sparks fall on it too, due to which it also catches fire.
Therefore, keep in mind that if you go anywhere, park your vehicles away from electrical equipment and be careful yourself.
Recent accident in Delhi
There have been several incidents of fire in the last few days due to rising temperatures in Delhi-NCR and surrounding states. Recently an incident has come to light from Tower 28 of Lotus Boulevard Society, Noida. Where the flat caught fire due to such a burst. However, the good thing is that the fire was limited to only one room and no one was harmed.
Delhi Fire Service (DFS) said that they are receiving more than 200 calls every day. All the equipment and manpower has also been exhausted, this is a difficult time for the Delhi Fire Department.”
