Vande Bharat to Vande Metro: After the successful launch of Vande Bharat, the Modi government is now gearing up to introduce Vande Bharat Sleeper and Vande Bharat Metro. Here’s an in-depth look at these upcoming projects.
The Significance of Trains in India
Trains play a crucial role in India’s economic development and growth. The introduction of the high-speed Vande Bharat train was a significant milestone, and now the railways are set to gift India with the Vande Metro. Let’s explore the cities where these metros will operate and the facilities they will offer.
Introduction of Vande Metro
Railway Minister Ashwin Vaishnav shared important updates in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. Addressing the increasing demand for more coaches on regular trains, the government is considering the production of 2,500 new coaches. Additionally, Vande Metro trains will be introduced in cities within a 150-200 kilometre radius. The design for these trains has already been prepared, sparking curiosity and anticipation.
Unique Features of Vande Metro
Vande Metro trains are a modern, short-distance variant of Vande Bharat trains. The railways plan to connect 124 cities within a 100-200 kilometer range. Like the Vande Bharat Express, Vande Metro trains will be automated. Their standout feature is the ability to run swiftly on tracks without a locomotive engine.
Infrastructure and Facilities of Vande Metro
The infrastructure of Vande Metro trains will surpass that of local metros. The interiors will be equipped with high-class amenities, including provisions for both seated and standing passengers. Vande Metro trains will feature fully air-conditioned coaches, automatic gates, diffused lighting, and mobile charging sockets. They will also be equipped with CCTV cameras and the ‘Kavach’ train anti-collision system to ensure passenger safety.
Targeted Cities for Vande Metro
Railway officials have announced that Vande Metro trains will connect around 124 cities. Some of the identified routes include Lucknow-Kanpur, Delhi-Rewari, Agra-Mathura, Tirupati-Chennai, and Bhubaneswar-Balasore. Additionally, there are plans for Vande Metro trains to operate between Bhagalpur in Bihar and Howrah in West Bengal.
Introduction of Vande Sleeper Trains
For long-distance travel ranging from 700 km to over 1,000 km, the Vande Sleeper train will soon be launched. The first train has already been manufactured and is currently undergoing testing.
