She received Padma Bhushan in 1969, Padma Vibhushan in 1999, and Bharat Ratna, India's Highest Civilian Award, in 2001

In 1974, she earned a Guiness Book Of World Records title for being the most recorded artist in the history of Indian Music having sung over 5000 songs.

She was the first Indian to perform at London's Royal Albert Hall in 1974.

In 1987,She received Honorary Citizenship Of The USA, Houston, Texas,USA and in 1980, the Honorary Citizenship Of  The Republic of Suriname, South America.

In honour of Lata Mangeshkar reaching Toronto, Ontario in Canada in 1985, June 9 was declared as Asia Day.

In 2007 she was conferred with the Legion of Honour, which is France's highest civilian award.

In 2008, on the occasion of India's 60th year of Independence, she was awarded the One Time Award for Lifetime Achievement

On her 90th birthday in September 2019, she was honoured with the daughter of the Nation award by Indian Government.
