A case of alleged love jihad has emerged from Uttar Pradesh’s Shravasti district, where a Hindu woman accused her Muslim husband of converting her before marriage, abusing her afterward, and abandoning her to pursue a second marriage.
Husband Forces Conversion Before Marriage
The incident reportedly occurred in Vishunapur village under the Ikauna police station area in Shravasti. The woman alleged that Taufiq Khan lured her into marriage by first persuading her to convert to Islam. After the marriage, she was subjected to physical abuse and threats, as her husband expressed his intent to marry another woman.
Pregnant Woman Left to Fend for Herself
Currently pregnant, the victim claims she was abandoned by her husband in Nagpur. Determined to confront him, she traveled back to Shravasti with her two-year-old child, seeking justice. She accused the local police of not addressing her complaints adequately, despite registering a case under relevant sections.
Husband Accused of Repeated Offenses
The victim revealed that Taufiq had similarly deceived another woman in the past. According to her statement, he left her in Nagpur, never returned, and forced her to track him down in Shravasti. She further accused him of having a history of duping women under false pretenses of love and marriage.
Police Investigate the Allegations
Shravasti police have registered a case against Taufiq and are currently investigating the matter. Authorities assured that appropriate legal action would be taken after a thorough inquiry. Meanwhile, the victim continues to seek justice while caring for her young child and coping with her pregnancy.
