AUS vs IND: The Men in Blue was in the number one position for the most time on the points table of WTC. Before facing New Zealand, India did not lose a single series of red ball format in this cycle of 2023 to 2025. But a 0-3 loss in the home series against the Kiwis has put India’s qualification chances in jeopardy.
South Africa is the new number-one team on the current points table of the World Test Championship and The Aussies are second on the table while the Men in Blue have been pushed to the number three spot after their loss in the Pink Ball Test Match at the Adelaide Oval.
The Proteas won a two-match red ball series versus the Sri Lankans at home and they need only one win to cement their spot in the WTC 2025 final in June 2025. The Aussies can still make it to the finals even if the Border Gavaskar Trophy is drawn to two all. But still they will need to win one match on the tour of Sri Lanka in 2025.
England has also created a strong chance for themselves to qualify for this one-off Test competition. Even though they lost the series against Pakistan after winning the first Tes match. But Stokes and his men are currently ahead in the red ball series versus the Balckcaps.
As said earlier, India is in the number three ranking on the World Test Championship points table. To qualify for that ICC Test event in Lords, The Men in Blue will have to win all their remaining matches of the current series against the Aussies. After India’s 10 wicket loss in the Day Night Test match, the five match series is levelled to 1-1.
India needs to win the series by a margin of 4-1 and if they loss this BGT series than their hopes for making it to the third straight finals will be dashed. The Men in Blue were the finalists of the two WTC editions in 2021 and 2023. The 2025 Finals will be played at the iconic stadium of Lords in London.
