3 Indian Bowlers Who Have Claimed The Most Hattricks In The IPL History

Must read

Hattrick: The T20 form of the game is tailor-made for batsmen because they can use the smaller boundaries to smash fours and sixes on the go. The batters are also helped by the flat pitches, where the bowlers cannot extract the swing, seam, or spin.

Despite all the things that go against the bowlers, the holders of the white cherry come on top and also won the matches for their respective teams in this shortest form of the game. As we all know, when a bowler picks up a wicket on three back-to-back deliveries, that is called a hat trick.

In the history of the Indian Premier League, 19 bowlers have picked up a hat-trick in the cash-rich league tournament. But there are only three bowlers who claimed a hat-trick twice in this league, and all three bowlers are from India. Lakshmipathy Balaji was the first bowler to pick a hat-trick in the IPL during the 2008 edition for CSK against PBKS.

Yuzi was the first-choice spinner in the Indian team for many seasons. Chahal and Kuldeep were also the most dangerous spin duo in the middle overs of the white ball format. KULCHA (Kuldeep and Chahal) picked up the most wickets, especially during the ODI and T20I series, which India won in South Africa.

But now, the selectors should take note of the performances given by Yuzvendra Chahal in the IPL. He is the latest entrant in this list of bowlers who have picked up two hat-tricks in the Indian Premier League. His first hat-trick came in 2022 when he played for RR versus KKR, and he picked the second hat-trick of his career yesterday for PBKS against CSK.

2. Yuvraj Singh –

Yuvi Paaji is still known for aggressive and stylish batting. He is also being remembered for his six sixes in one over in the 2007 T20 World Cup. Singh was a gun feilder as well. But very few instances are spoken about his bowling. Yuvraj’s contribution during India’s win in the 2011 ODI World Cup was not alone with just batting.

He contributed heavily with the white cherry as well. In the IPL, Yuvraj had picked up two hattricks. The record, which went unnoticed by many of us because we have seen Yuvraj mostly as a batter and not as a bowler. He is also the only player who has picked two hat-tricks in a single season and one franchise.

The 2009 edition of the Indian Premier League was played in South Africa, and Yuvraj Singh played for the Kings XI Punjab, which is now known as Punjab Kings. Singh picked three wickets in three deliveries against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Deccan Chargers, who later on became the champions of that 2009 season.

The veteran spin bowler, Amit Mishra is the only man who has picked up the most hat-tricks in the history of the Indian Premier League. Mishra Ji has three hattricks in this cash rich league tournament. In 2008, Amit picked up the second hattrick of that season and that was also Mishra’s first ever one in the IPL. 2011 and 2013 were the other two editions when he picked up three wickets in 3 balls.
