Indian Premier League: All the seasons of the Indian Premier League have been entertaining to watch. The TATA IPL 2025 edition is also one such season, where all three aspects of the game have come into play. The batters are the ones who enjoy the T20 format a lot.
The batter can make use of the field restriction overs even when the new ball does a bit in the initial overs and the batsmen can also snash the bowlers all over the park park despite the bowlers try to use their yorkers and other variations in the last four overs of an T20 innings.
The flat pitches also make life easier for the batsmen. But the poor bowlers have to adjust their lines and lengths to stop the power hitters. The openers are supposed to make full use of the powerplay overs, and here are three such openers who have smashed the highest individual score in the Indian Premier League –
Chris Gayle –

The Universal Boss, Chris Gayle is the Don of the shortest format. Gayle had scored runs in every corner of the T20 format and in the Indian Premier League, he has dominated this cash-rich league tournament like a real Boss. Gayle has entertained everyone whoever has watched him in the IPL.
He still holds the record for the highest individual score in the Indian Premier League history. The Gayle Storm arrived in the match against a team of Pune Warriors India when Chris played for the team of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, which was called Bangalore then.
Christopher Henry Gayle smashed an unbeaten 175 runs playing for RCB in that match versus PWI. This match was played on RCB’s home ground, M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The Bengaluru side posted a mammoth score of 263 runs. But the Pune team, who had the worst day, managed to score just 133 runs when they tried to chase that huge total and lost the game by 130 runs.
2. Brendon McCullum –

A century was scored in the first ever match of the Indian Premier League and it was Brendon McCullum, who did it in the 1st game of the first season in 2008. IPL’s first-ever match was played between KKR and RCB. BAZ played for the team of the Kolkata Knight Riders team in that game.
He scored an unbeaten 158 runs to start the proceedings of this greatest T20 Cricket League called the IPL and since that first game, this league hasn’t looked back. MCcullum’s innings is still being remembered as one of the greatest knock in the history of the Indian Premier League.
3. Abhishek Sharma –

The third and the last player in this list is the only player from India to be named because he also has registered the highest individual score in the Indian Premier League. Abhishek Sharma, the young Indian opener has joined the player like Gayle and McCullum.
Sharma Ji amassed the highest individual score by an Indian in the IPL when he smashed 141 runs on Saturday in the game played between Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Abhishek plays for the Orange Army in the current IPL season. He also became the first player to smash the highest individual score in a run chase.
The Orange Army bagged a famous win only because of Abhishek Sharma’s 141-run knock. The SRH side was asked to chase a huge score of 246 runs from their 120 balls. But Sharma and Head started off well and then Abhishek carried his innings nicely to help the Hyderabad team to get that much-needed victory.
