Bareilly Gym Rape Case: A shocking case of sexual assault, blackmail, and extortion has come to light from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, leading to the arrest of a gym owner and his brother.
The incident, which took place at the Ultimate Fitness Gym located in the Civil Lines area under the Kotwali police station jurisdiction, has triggered massive public outrage.
The perpetrators reportedly targeted a female MBBS doctor who had joined the fitness center with the objective of losing weight.
According to verified police reports, the accused individuals have been identified as Akram Baig, the owner of the gym, and his brother Alam Baig, who worked there as a fitness trainer.
The two accused allegedly exploited the victim over an extended period by misusing fitness supplements and private facilities within the gym premises.
The Modus Operandi: Drugged Drinks and Hidden Cameras
Bareilly Gym Rape Case: The ordeal began shortly after the doctor joined the gym. Under the pretext of accelerating her weight loss and offering an exclusive diet plan, the trainer started providing her with a specific “pre-workout drink.” Over time, the accused allegedly began spiking this beverage with strong intoxicating substances.
On one such occasion, when the victim lost consciousness due to the drugged drink, she was taken to a private room/restroom inside the gym. The accused sexually assaulted her and recorded the entire act using a hidden CCTV camera and mobile devices.
Long-Term Blackmail and Extortion Demands
Bareilly Gym Rape Case: The crime escalated into a long-running extortion racket. The perpetrators used the secretly recorded videos to blackmail the victim.
Fearing social stigma and damage to her personal and professional reputation, the doctor remained silent for several months. During this period, the accused repeatedly assaulted her under the threat of circulating the videos online.
The situation deteriorated further when the victim stopped visiting the gym in an attempt to distance herself from the abusers. In response, the accused allegedly began tracking her daily movements and followed her family, including her husband and children.
They threatened her with dire consequences and initially demanded a ransom of ₹10 lakh, which they later escalated to a final extortion demand of ₹50 lakh.
Police Action and Arrests
The cycle of exploitation was broken after the explicit clips were sent to the victim’s husband. Realizing the gravity of the situation, the family approached the Bareilly police and lodged a formal complaint detailing the sexual assault, stalking, and extortion.
Following the complaint, the Bareilly police swung into action. A team led by Circle Officer (CO) City Ashutosh Shivam conducted a raid at the Ultimate Fitness Gym. Both Akram Baig and Alam Baig were arrested and taken into police custody.
During the search of the gym premises, law enforcement officials recovered several incriminating items, including:
Multiple mobile phones and electronic data storage devices.
Digital pen drives containing recorded clips of the victim.
Enhancing medicines, testosterone boosters, and syringes stored at the facility.
During preliminary interrogations, the police discovered that the accused had preserved multiple video clips.
Authorities are currently investigating whether other women who frequented the gym were subjected to similar behavior, as electronic evidence points toward a wider pattern of exploitation.
Local authorities have assured a thorough investigation, and strict legal proceedings are underway against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) covering rape, extortion, criminal intimidation, and tech-based voyeurism.
