Major Bypoll Upset in Bihar: In the biggest surprise of the by-polls, Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor has built a commanding lead of nearly 10,000 votes in Bihar’s high-profile Bankipur constituency.

Neeraj Kumar (BJP): 23,957 votes

Bankipur has long been considered an impenetrable fortress for the BJP. The seat was previously held by BJP National President Nitin Nabin, who won five consecutive terms before vacating the seat following his election to the Rajya Sabha.

Major Bypoll Upset in Bihar: In Madhya Pradesh’s Datia assembly seat, early trends favoured the BJP, but counting in later rounds has dramatically reversed the contest.

Congress candidate Ghanshyam Singh has powered ahead, establishing a solid lead of over 6,000 votes.

Key Context: The BJP made a high-stakes gamble in Datia by dropping three-time MLA and former minister Narottam Mishra in favour of fresh candidate Ashutosh Tiwari. However, the move appears to have backfired as Congress capitalized on anti-incumbency and local realignment.

Gujarat Dominance: BJP Sweeps Manjalpur easily

While Bihar and Madhya Pradesh brought unexpected challenges for the ruling party, Gujarat’s Manjalpur seat has yielded a comfortable victory for the BJP.

BJP candidate Satendrabhai Patel (Satish Patel) has effectively secured the seat with an overwhelming lead of 27,516 votes as counting enters its final two rounds.
