Lack of Communication

Before being a couple, it is crucial to be friends. Spending time together and discussing various matters is essential for a healthy relationship. About 65 per cent of divorces in India are attributed to a lack of communication when couples fail to understand each other.

Extra-Marital Affairs

One of the primary reasons for divorce is extra-marital affairs, which have become increasingly common. Trust is the foundation of any relationship, and when it is broken, the relationship often falls apart. About 40 per cent of divorces in India occur due to extra-marital affairs, often stemming from a lack of emotional attachment between partners.

Financial Instability

Financial problems can deeply impact a relationship. Around 40 per cent of divorces in India are due to financial instability. Issues arise when couples struggle with financial management or when the wife’s earnings surpass the husband’s, leading to ego clashes and other problems.

Continuous Fights

Every individual is different, and understanding this is vital for couples. Many times, discussions can turn into arguments, which then escalate into fights. In India, approximately 57.7% of divorces occur due to a lack of understanding and continuous conflicts.

Unrealistic Expectations

It is important to remember that life is not like a movie or a book where everything is perfect. Both partners should have realistic expectations of each other. Often, one partner may have unrealistic expectations, causing tension and leading to divorce.

The rising trend of divorces in India is due to several factors, including lack of communication, extra-marital affairs, financial instability, continuous fights, and unrealistic expectations. Understanding and addressing these issues is crucial for maintaining healthy relationships.
