1. Kyle Verreynne And Wiaan Mulder –
South Africa had bundled out the home side, Bangladesh for just 106 runs in their 1st innings and the visitors needed to put up a good score on the board when they batted. However the top order didn’t do much and the Proteas were placed at 108 runs for the loss of six when the SA wicketkeeper batter, Kyle Verreynne and Wiaan Mulder did the recovery job.
In that tense situation and when the opposition bowlers were on top, Verreynne and Mulder shared a much-needed partnership of 119 runs. The wicketkeeper-batsman of the Proteas slammed a magnificent century in Bangladesh when he batted in the 1st innings and the pace-bowling all-rounder of South Africa, Wiaan Mulder scored 54 runs to his name which was also a vital knock in the context of this match. Kyle was named as the Player of the Match for his gusty innings of 114 runs which came in a crucial time for South Africa.
2. Mehidy Hasan Miraz –
The home side, Bangladesh lagged behind in the first test match despite having South Africa reeling at one stage. But they batted decently in their second innings and still, that wasn’t enough for them to win this red ball match. Bangladesh went past the 1st innings of the Proteas mainly because of Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s 97-run knock and he was well supported by the wicketkeeper batter of the team, Jaker Ali who scored 58 runs to his name which allowed the Bangla Tigers to post 307 runs in their second innings.
3. Kagiso Rabada –
The masterful pace bowler of South Africa, Kagiso Rabada was the reason why Bangladesh fell behind in this Test match. The King of pace and swing bowling Rabada picked up 6 wickets in the second innings which never allowed the Bangladeshi batters to stay in the match. Kagiso also picked three scalps with the red cherry in the first innings when the Tigers were bundled out for just 106 runs.
4. Taijul Islam –
The spin bowler of the Bangladeshi team, Taijul Islam was the only bowler who picked up three wickets in the second innings of South Africa while they defended just 106 runs. Every other bowler of Bangladesh went wicketless in the second innings. Islam also picked up a five-wicket haul in the 1st innings as well. In just one red ball match, Taijul has got 8 scalps to his name.
