The pace bowlers of Pakistan challenged Australia in the first ODI. Haris Rauf was too good with the white cherry in hand. But still, the Men in Green allowed the home side, Australia to get over the line in the opening encounter of this three-match series in the fifty overs format. Smith and Inglis were the ones who put Australia firmly ahead in the run chase of 204 runs.

Now to clinch the series, the Aussies will want the other batters to step up. Maxwell, Labuschagne and Jake Fraser McGruk will have to deliver in a run chase or if they bat first in the second match. It was Pat Cummins who held his nerve to guide the Aussies to a two-wicket win at MCG.

For the visitors, Pakistan, their batting was the main issue in the 1st ODI. Batting first, The Men in Green just mustered 203 runs on the board. Apart from the newly appointed skipper Rizwan and the lower order contributions from Naseem and Shaheen, no other batters could cope with the Aussie bowlers.

To stay alive in the series, Pakistan will have to give a better performance with the bat in hand. They will have to play out of their skins to level the series to one-all in Adelaide tomorrow. The Aussies can add Hazlewood and Stoinis to their playing eleven to add more pressure on the Pakistanis.
