Bisht will present the proposal in the assembly on Friday i.e. 28 March. There is speculation that Mustafabad may be renamed Shiv Puri or Shiv Vihar.
For reference, before the Delhi Assembly elections, BJP candidate Mohan Singh Bisht had promised that if he wins the election, he will change the name of Mustafabad. Now, as an MLA, he is taking steps to fulfill that promise.
Why Does Mohan Singh Bisht Want to Rename Mustafabad?
Before the elections, Mohan Singh Bisht said that he had been the MLA of this constituency from 1998 to 2008. He stressed that he knows the area well and has worked for its development without any caste or religious bias.
However, when asked about the reason behind renaming Mustafabad, he firmly stated that he is committed to changing the name and there is a solid reason behind this decision.
Mohan Singh Bisht said that in this area the population of one community is 58%, while the population of the other community is 42%. He raised the question that in such a situation whose opinion should be taken first. He said that the sentiments of the 58% majority should be respected first.
