India has blocked Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif’s x (formerly Twitter) account in the country. Since the deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22 – which claimed the lives of 26 tourists – Khawaja Asif had been using his social media platform to make provocative statements against India, even threatening a nuclear attack.
The move comes after India recently banned several Pakistani YouTube channels, including news outlets and channels of former cricketers, as tensions escalate between the two neighbouring countries.
Pakistan Defence Minister Admits Sheltering Terrorists
Recently, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif admitted to giving shelter to terrorists in an interview to local news channel Sky News. In the interview, Asif said, “Well, we have been doing this dirty work for Western countries including America and Britain for about three decades.”
His statement is a clear admission that Pakistan has a long history of supporting and training terrorist groups. It comes after the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which has been blamed on Pakistan-backed terrorists. After the attack, India has broken all diplomatic ties with Pakistan.
Pahalgam Attack:Â What Happened on April 22?
On the afternoon of April 22, militants opened fire at Baisaran, a popular tourist spot near Pahalgam in Kashmir, killing 26 people – most of them tourists from other states. The attack is the deadliest in the Valley after the 2019 Pulwama attack.
26 people lost their lives in this terrorist attack. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah described the attack as “much bigger than any recent attack on civilians”.
