Since its inception after the Anna movement, AAP has performed impressively in Delhi elections since 2013. There are several constituencies in Delhi where AAP has consistently won in previous elections, and these seats are considered strongholds for the party.

Burari, Seemapuri and Okhla are some of the constituencies where AAP has won significant victories. Let’s explore the dynamics of these constituencies in the upcoming election.

Delhi Elections 2025: Burari Constituency

Burari is considered one of the most talked about seats in North Delhi. Since 2013, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been consistently winning this seat with impressive margins.

Senior AAP leader Sanjeev Jha has won this seat several times. Known as a prominent face of the party, Jha has put down strong roots in the area. The Burari assembly constituency includes areas like Burari, Kadipur, Ibrahimpur, Mukhmelpur, Nangli Poona, Jharoda and Jagatpur.

Delhi Elections 2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had won this seat in the 2008 assembly elections, but in 2013, AAP’s Sanjeev Jha claimed victory for the first time. He repeated his success in 2015 and won for the third time in 2020 by defeating Shailendra Kumar of the Janata Dal (United).

In this election, the Aam Aadmi Party has fielded Sanjeev Jha again. Meanwhile, Congress has nominated Mangesh Tyagi as their candidate. The NDA has not yet announced their candidate for the seat.

Delhi Elections 2025: Seemapuri Constituency

The Seemapuri assembly seat has been held by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) since 2013. The seat was initially won by Dharmendra Singh and later by Rajendra Pal in 2015 and 2020. Rajendra Pal won the 2020 elections by a margin of over 55,000 votes.

Delhi Elections 2025: The Seemapuri constituency is located in the northeastern part of Delhi and comprises a mix of residential and commercial areas.

Delhi Elections 2025: Okhla Constituency

The Okhla assembly seat located in south-east Delhi is considered a stronghold of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Okhla assembly seat was formed in 1993 during the reorganization of Delhi assembly elections.

Since then, various political parties have had influence in this area, but in the last two elections, AAP has made a strong hold here.

In the 2020 assembly election, Amanatullah Khan of AAP won with 130,367 votes (66.03%), defeating BJP’s Brahm Singh who got 58,540 votes.

In the 2015 assembly election, Amanatullah Khan defeated Congress’s Parvez Hashmi, a long-time MLA from the seat.

Congress’s Parvez Hashmi had won the 2013 assembly election, but his vote share declined with the rise of AAP.

For this election, AAP has fielded Amanatullah Khan once again from the Okhla seat. Meanwhile, Congress and BJP have not yet announced their candidates. The Okhla seat has a significant proportion of minority voters.
