Reports of bomb threats in flights have become increasingly common, and the issue shows no signs of slowing down. In response, the Ministry of Civil Aviation is preparing to enforce strict laws to curb these incidents.
To prevent bomb threat incidents on flights, the Civil Aviation Ministry is planning to introduce stricter laws. Anyone found guilty of making such fake threats will be placed on the “No-Fly” list. This means the person will be permanently banned from flying.
Urgency for Stricter Laws – Civil Aviation Ministry
Civil Aviation Minister K. Ramamohan Naidu announced that the ministry is considering changes to civil aviation rules to ensure strict actions are taken against those making false bomb threats.
25 Flights Threatened in 4 Days
In the span of four days, 25 flights from various Indian airlines received bomb threats, including international flights. Passengers and airlines faced serious disruptions, and many flight routes had to be altered. Most of these threats turned out to be fake. A ministry official stated that amendments to the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) rules are being considered to enforce stricter penalties for such crimes.
‘No-Fly’ List to Be Created
According to an airline official, discussions are ongoing about permanently placing individuals who spread fake bomb threat news on a “No-Fly” list. Legal opinions are being gathered to finalize the necessary changes. The ministry is also researching international laws for similar crimes.
No Tolerance for Such Actions
An official mentioned, “We want to introduce rules that are strict and effective.” Civil Aviation Minister K. Ramamohan Naidu further stated that law enforcement agencies are actively investigating all bomb threat cases. The government is closely monitoring the situation and strongly condemns any attempts to compromise the safety and operations of the aviation sector.
