Anger Reflected in Pandals

Kolkata RapemureSeveral Durga Puja pandals in Kolkata are portraying the pain and helplessness felt by the community due to the heinous crime. In one of the pandals, the idol of Goddess Durga is shown covering her eyes with her hands, as if unable to witness the violence happening around her. Right in front of the idol, a replica of the woman doctor’s lifeless body is displayed, with her dress hanging beside her, symbolizing the torment she endured. A lion, traditionally depicted as Goddess Durga’s companion, is shown bowing its head in shame, unable to witness the events but also powerless to act.
