Mahakumbh 2025: At the Prayagraj Mahakumbh 2025, where a large number of devotees are gathering from all over the country, community kitchens (bhandaras) have been set up at various places to serve them. Meanwhile, a video has gone viral on social media in which an inspector in the Soraon police station area of Prayagraj is allegedly seen throwing ash in the food in the bhandara, making it unfit for consumption.
After the video went viral, the DCP took cognizance of the matter and suspended the accused inspector and ordered an investigation.
In the viral video circulating on social media, large vessels of food can be seen being prepared by the roadside, with several people standing nearby. Suddenly, Inspector Brijesh Tiwari, dressed in a khaki uniform, takes a ladle and throws ash into the food. This meal was meant to be distributed among visitors in the Mela area, but the inspector ruined it by contaminating it with ash.
Mahakumbh 2025: Akhilesh Yadav Also Criticizes the Incident
Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has also raised questions on the police action regarding the viral video. He called the incident very unfortunate and wrote, “It is unfortunate that those who arranged food and water for the people stranded in Mahakumbh are being harassed due to political vendetta. The public should pay attention to this!”

The video of the act of SHO Brijesh Tiwari of Soraon police station was recorded by a person standing there and later went viral on social media. The exact date and time of the incident is not known. Meanwhile, people are raising questions on the behavior of the inspector. After the video went viral, the DCP took cognizance of the matter and suspended the accused inspector and ordered an inquiry.
