Rajpal Yadav Property Auction: Renowned Bollywood actor and comedian Rajpal Yadav is facing escalated financial and legal challenges after the Central Bank of India initiated recovery proceedings against his properties in Uttar Pradesh.

According to media reports, the public sector bank has issued official attachment notices and scheduled an online e-auction for September 9, 2026, to recover an outstanding loan balance amounting to over Rs 16.61 crore.

The recovery action comes shortly after legal proceedings in the Delhi High Court related to long-standing cheque bounce complaints linked to the same underlying financial obligations.

Central Bank Issues Attachment Notices in Shahjahanpur

According to reports, officials from the Central Bank of India’s Mumbai branch, alongside local branch managers, affixed official auction notices on Rajpal Yadav’s ancestral residence located in Kundra village, situated within Powayan tehsil of Shahjahanpur district, Uttar Pradesh.

A second urban property situated near the Dak Bungalow in Shahjahanpur city has also been cited in the recovery notice.

Key details regarding the bank’s recovery process include:

Total Outstanding Liabilities: The total dues claimed by the bank stand at Rs 16,61,64,638.

Property Valuations: The combined estimated market value of the two mortgaged Shahjahanpur assets is approximately Rs 3.19 crore.

E-Auction Schedule: The online auction is slated for September 9, 2026. Prospective bidders are required to submit an earnest money deposit (EMD) of Rs 31 lakh by September 7, 2026.

Guarantor Details: According to bank records, the loan facility was secured by pledging properties held in the names of the actor, his wife Radha Yadav, and his mother Godavari Devi as co-borrowers and guarantors.

Reports indicate that debt recovery proceedings were executed following directives issued by the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT) in Mumbai.

The Origins of Debt: Directorial Debut Aata Pata Laapata

Rajpal Yadav Property Auction: The financial liabilities trace back to 2010, when Rajpal Yadav ventured into film direction and production with the ensemble political satire Aata Pata Laapata under his production banner, Navrang Godavari Entertainment Limited.

To finance the ambitious cinematic project, the actor secured initial business credit of around Rs 5 crore from the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) branch of the Central Bank of India in Mumbai.

However, upon release in 2012, the film suffered a major commercial failure at the box office, preventing the production house from generating sufficient returns to meet scheduled debt servicing timelines.

Over the subsequent decade, compounding interest rates, penalties, and delayed payments caused the unpaid balance to balloon to the current figure of over Rs 16.61 crore.

According to media reports, the bank had previously taken preliminary enforcement steps in August 2024 by temporarily sealing portions of the actor’s city residence, though subsequent settlement discussions briefly paused physical liquidations.

Parallel Cheque Dishonour Litigation

The bank recovery drive runs concurrently with multi-year legal proceedings regarding post-dated cheques issued to private lenders during the movie’s production phase.

In July 2026, the Delhi High Court reviewed seven connected cheque bounce petitions involving liability defaults of approximately Rs 7.35 crore.

The court sentenced the actor to three months’ imprisonment while noting prior partial deposits made during appellate hearings. While Yadav previously served brief custodial periods before securing interim relief, the unresolved financial obligations continue to generate parallel civil and criminal enforcement actions.

Family Clarifications and Settlement Efforts

Despite the public placement of auction notices, representatives from Rajpal Yadav’s family maintain that active negotiations are underway to resolve the default amicably.

According to media reports, the actor’s elder brother, Shripal Yadav, stated that the financial dispute is an ongoing issue and expressed optimism regarding a mutually acceptable resolution before the scheduled auction date.

He noted that discussions with bank officials regarding structured repayment terms remain active, asserting that the family expects to prevent the physical sale of the ancestral holdings.

On the Work Front

Rajpal Yadav Property Auction: Throughout his career spanning more than two decades, Rajpal Yadav has established himself as one of Hindi cinema’s most recognizable comedic actors, delivering iconic performances in films such as Hungama, Waqt, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, and Chup Chup Ke.

Despite his off-screen legal hurdles, the actor continues his professional artistic commitments.

According to media reports, Yadav recently featured in the multi-starrer comedy Welcome to the Jungle and is set to appear in director Priyadarshan’s upcoming project Haiwaan, alongside Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan.
