‘Rs 370 Biryani’ Viral Video Controversy: In the age of social media, the boundary between personal conduct and professional consequences has become thinner than ever.

A recent incident involving a controversial remark made during a live stand-up comedy show in India has triggered massive public outrage, leading to severe corporate action.

A Gurugram-based firm has officially sacked one of its employees after a clip of his highly insensitive and derogatory comments went viral across multiple digital platforms.

The incident has once again ignited intense public debate regarding the degradation of modern comedy, workplace ethics, and accountability in the digital era.

What is the ‘Rs 370 Biryani’ Controversy?

‘Rs 370 Biryani’ Viral Video Controversy: The controversy traces back to a live stand-up comedy show hosted by comedian Pranit More.

During an crowd-interaction segment of the show, a member of the audience identified as Himanshu Jangra a web developer based in Gurugram recounted a personal dating experience.

According to reports, Jangra stated during the show that he had spent Rs 370 on a plate of chicken biryani while out on a date with a woman.

He further claimed that when the woman requested him to drop her back home, he demanded sexual favors in return for the money spent on the food.

The remark, framed as a casual anecdote, immediately drew sharp reactions once the video snippet surfaced online.

Social Media Backlash and Widespread Public Outrage

‘Rs 370 Biryani’ Viral Video Controversy: As the video clip began circulating on Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and YouTube, internet users heavily criticized the remarks, labeling them as highly sexist, insensitive, and deeply derogatory toward women.

The backlash was not restricted to Jangra alone. A significant section of netizens expressed deep disappointment with the show’s host, Pranit More, who was seen laughing at the comment rather than calling out the inappropriate behavior on stage.

Public reactions on social media highlighted the growing concern over the quality of modern digital content:

Many users called the conversation “rubbish and sexist,” criticizing the audience and viewers who smiled or laughed at the clip.

Commentators drew historical and cultural parallels, demanding collective accountability for those who encourage such content.

Others raised concerns over regulatory oversight, questioning the kind of content being served under the guise of casual comedy.

Corporate Fallout: Gurugram Firm Sacks Web Developer

‘Rs 370 Biryani’ Viral Video Controversy: As the online outrage intensified, internet users identified Jangra’s workplace and flooded the employer with messages, emails, and phone calls demanding immediate accountability.

Responding to the mounting pressure, Starvik Design a Gurugram-based social media and branding firm officially terminated Jangra’s employment.

Vivek Vishwakarma, the founder of Starvik Design, released a video statement on X to confirm the decision.

Vishwakarma acknowledged that while the incident took place outside of the workplace, the severe online controversy had begun to impact the firm’s professional reputation, its team dynamics, and its clients.

“What happens outside the workplace is now affecting the workplace. I have a responsibility toward our company, our team, our clients, and the environment here.

That is why we have decided to part ways with Himanshu,” Vishwakarma stated in the video response.

Professional Assessment vs. Personal Digital Footprint

Interestingly, the firm’s management noted that Jangra’s professional conduct within the office walls had never been an issue.

According to the source, the founder consulted with the office staff, including female team members, who generally described Jangra as a hardworking, professional, and respectful individual during his tenure.

However, further examination into the matter revealed that the employee’s past digital footprints and older content on his personal Instagram ID were also deemed highly objectionable.

Apologies Tendered and the Path to Reflection

Following the intense public trial and professional setback, both the stand-up comedian Pranit More and the dismissed employee Himanshu Jangra issued official apologies for the incident. Jangra has since deactivated his official Instagram account to avoid further digital backlash.

In their official stance, Starvik Design emphasized that while actions must have legal and professional consequences, society should not entirely shut the door on personal transformation.

The firm expressed hope that the severity of the situation would serve as a long-term lesson for Jangra, allowing him an opportunity for self-reflection, learning, and positive behavioral change.
