Toyota Rumion – Toyota Kirloskar has launched the festival edition of Toyota Rumion. Maruti Suzuki has introduced a special edition of the Ertiga-based MPV in every variant. It comes with free accessories worth Rs 20,608. This special edition will be available for sale till 31 October 2024.
The company’s most affordable 7-seater MPV Rumion has a starting price of ₹ 10.29 lakh (ex-showroom price). The car comes with 3 variants, 6 trims, and 5 color options, The CNG option is also available it. The car was launched in August this year.
The latest features equip the Rumion, including smartphone and smartwatch connectivity. You can start or stop the car’s engine using your smartphone. The company claims that this car has a mileage of 20.52kmpl in the petrol variant and 26.11km in the CNG variant.
The fourth badge-engineered model shared between the two companies is the Rumion, following the Toyota Glanza, Urban Cruiser, and Maruti Suzuki Invicto. With this, Japanese car maker Toyota has the most affordable car in its MPV portfolio in the Indian market after the Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross, and Vellfire.
Exterior design- Honeycomb pattern in the grille and 7-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels
The car will be manufactured by Maruti Suzuki and will be supplied to Toyota like the Glanza. The new Toyota Rumion has something different from the Ertiga. The designers took the front grille from the Innova Crysta, giving it a honeycomb pattern surrounded by chrome, resulting in the most significant change.
The designers equipped both sides of the grille with a pair of LED projector headlamps that have integrated LED daytime running lights (DRLs). They redesigned the front bumper and added another chrome element at the bottom. Fog lamps are available on both sides of it. On the side, new 7-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels are available, which are different from Ertiga.
There is no change in the side and rear profile of the car. The interior of the Rumion gets a dual-tone treatment like Ertiga, the only difference is the new Toyota logo on the steering wheel. In addition, Ertiga’s equipment with a seven-seater arrangement has been stolen.
Toyota Rumion- Engine, Power and Mileage
The Toyota Rumion has the same 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine as Ertiga, which generates 103hp of power and 137Nm of torque. With this engine, there is an option of a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Additionally, Rumion comes with a factory-installed CNG kit. This engine generates 88hp of power and 121.5Nm of torque in CNG mode. The company claims that the car gives a mileage of 20.11 km with a manual transmission, 20.51kmpl with an automatic transmission, and 26.11km/kg in CNG.
Toyota has equipped this car with a petrol engine as well as Neo Drive (Integrated Starter Generator – ISG) and E-CNG technology. The company says that the new Neo Drive technology and E-CNG technology improve the mileage of this car. This car will be available with both fuel options i.e. petrol (Neo Drive) and CNG.
Toyota Rumion- Comparison
Toyota Rumion has no direct competition. However, Toyota Innova Crysta, Kia Carens, and Mahindra Marazzo are present in the MPV segment in India, but these are premium cars. The car will have a standard warranty of 3 years or one lakh kilometers.
